Florence's most romantic spots

The landmarks of Florence have been displayed in many romantic movies. From A room with a view to The English patient, you can make movies turning into reality by visiting some enchanting Florence art galleries and locations that will set you in the right mood for love…

Romantic art from the master of the Renaissance

Who cannot think of love when presented with the great romantic arts of the great masters of the Renaissance? Invaluable emotions can be found in the Uffizi Gallery, home of the major artworks commissioned by the de Medici family, such as Sandro Botticellis' The Spring and Birth of Venus. For more sculpture from the Renaissance, consider the Bargello Museum – formerly a fortress palace, it's now home to Italy's second largest sculpture display.

Two magnificent squares are the ideal stage for a romantic, hand to hand walk:

Piazza del Duomo, the ancient spiritual heart of the Florence, offers an outstanding view you won’t easily forget, especially if you go up Giotto’s bell tower and have a close look at Brunelleschi ‘s Dome that crowns the city.

Take a delicious ice-cream (a real institution in Florence) while reaching Piazza della Signoria. The point of origin of the Florentine Republic is an "en plain air" museum, a dreamy place dominated by Palazzo Vecchio, a mighty fortress that is the gothic town hall of Florence.

Enchanting panoramic locations

Perhaps you are looking for an intimate atmosphere than a tour of art museums? Florence offers some enchanting panoramic locations:

Ponte Vecchio – The oldest bridge in Florence is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset over the roofs of Florence historical centre. Here you’ll find musicians always playing their classic guitar, as well as couples looking for a romantic atmosphere. If you want to make your love eternal, remember to chain a padlock to Ponte Vecchio, and then throw the key in the Arno river...

Piazzale Michelangelo – Known for its panoramic views of Florence, this square offers a sumptuous terrace where you can sit and stare at the Arno valley and historical bridges. A good idea is to take a walk in Piazzale Michelangelo gardens: in May, Giardino dell'Iris and Giardino delle Rose are abloom with more than 2,500 varieties of the flowers.

Forte Belvedere – An enchanting fortress built at the end of the 16th century to defend Florence from enemy attack, has now become the most romantic appointment for young Florentine lovers. In the summer a huge inflated red sofa will be your tender love’s nest while enjoying breathtaking views of Florence's skyline as well as the Tuscan hills beyond...

Tuscany countryside – postcards from Etruscan ancient past

Take a tour of the vineyards around Florence in the Chianti region and let the green Tuscany countryside inspire and renew your love.
